Vanquishing the Zygons and leaving Middle Earth

When I came to from my Zygon venom induced slumber, I spotted the princess smiling an evil grin. At first I figured a Zygon had taken over her body, like those evil things do, but soon noticed the detonator in her hand. “This machine of yours proved useful, Doctor’ she explained how she’d found enough material to build a bomb which she’d then detonated while I was passed out. ‘Oh, and I fixed it for you’. she added with a grin.

All the Zygons had been vanquished, but I was disappointed. I was against violence and this woman, no matter how beautiful and graceful she was like Rose, was also vindictive and cruel and untrustworthy, unlike my Rose. She was no doubt, intelligent and mechanically skilled, but I couldn’t look past how she had gone for a violent option.

The TARDIS was all fixed, thanks to her, but I thought it best to leave, horrified by the genocide she had carried out. No doubt it was to protect her kingdom, but I chose peace and kindness and decided it best to be far from this place. Even I gave second chances to my worst enemy (yes, even the Zygons). And this was no place for me.

I set out once more, haunted by the thought of the violence I’d witnessed. So, I leave you with this- When faced with a choice, always choose a peaceful way out. Be the better person.

Away we go to hunt Zygons

I was happy to been in the company of people once more. Especially people whom I could help. Once the princess (who introduced herself as Lady Deeandra, ruler of Middle Earth) had lowered her sword and I’d explained that I had prior experience fighting the monsters (they were called Zygons) who were tormenting them, she allowed me to help out.

We set out for the caves. I asked everyone to stand back while I dealt with the matter, but the princess insisted on being in front and putting on a brave face. She was so much like Rose, I thought then.

My thoughts were interrupted soon enough,as we were surrounded by a host of Zygons. They cornered us but the soldiers fought back. Many were struck fatally by the poisonous Zygon tentacles, but I managed to pull the princess to safety. We ran out and found our way back to the TARDIS. I was fatally stung by the Zygon, but being immune, I only collapsed when we reached back to the time machine.

Meeting the Hobbits and Princess Di

I was keen on exploring but not a soul stirred. Usually when it was this till, it meant danger was ahead. I could feel the inhabitants staring at me from behind closed doors and if you listened closely, you could hear frantic mumbling.

I decided to pay one of the tiny houses a visit. Before I could knock, the door opened and I was pulled in!

The ceiling was too low for a tall man like myself so I had to stoop. The inhabitants who were shorter than your average human looked at me and judging by their scared appearance, I put them at ease by introducing myself and meant no harm. Once they were calm, I learnt that they were called Hobbits and that currently their land was in great peril from, slimy tentacly creatures who lived in the woods around the Shire and hunted at night. The creatures, they said, had conical heads and looked pretty ‘alien’ (being an alien myself, I know one when I see one) but had the ability to shape shift…and the hunted at night.

Suddenly we heard rustling outside. I, being an adventurous spirit took charge and armed with my sonic screwdriver, slowly opened the door. Immediately a sword shoved itself in through the crack in the door and I felt teh cool steel across my throat. A lady strangely resembling your human Princess Diana stepped in from the darkness. “Who are you hididng here, Bilbo?” she enquired, while her soldiers looked on. “Hullo, nice to meet you. I’m the Doctor. I can help. ” I croaked against her sword with a half grin.

Ending up on Middle Earth

The TARDIS sputtered and then stopped. She’s never done that before in all our adventures, the ol girl. I wonder what went wrong this time. I wondered where we had crash landed. Looking out the window, all I could see was green and green meadow as far as the eye could see.

I stepped out, having no other option since my time machine refused to start and I had no clue where she had brought me. Sometimes, the TARDIS has a mind of her own. Where were we? Rose would’ve known. She was smarter than me. I so wished I could’ve rescued her from the parallel universe. My Rose…the one companion I had fallen for and who had seen me through thick and thin. Now it was just me and the TARDIS on our adventures together.

I stepped out…and bam, it hit me! The meadows no longer seemed unknown to me as I spotted little doors peeking out. Little underground dwellings, illustrations of which I had seen in my good old friend Tolkien’s books all those years ago when I ‘d last visited him.

I was in the world he had created. I was in the Shire.

The Journey begins

Hullo, I’m the Doctor! That’s my name, don’t wear it out. I’m from the planet Gallifrey and have been travelling through time and space in my TARDIS (that’s short for Time and Relative Distance in Space)- a blue phone box that’s bigger on the inside and take me and my companions everywhere.

Join me on my journey. Who knows where we’ll be ending up next…which planet, which galaxy far far away. Allons-y! (that’s French for ‘Let’s Go!’)
