Ending up on Middle Earth

The TARDIS sputtered and then stopped. She’s never done that before in all our adventures, the ol girl. I wonder what went wrong this time. I wondered where we had crash landed. Looking out the window, all I could see was green and green meadow as far as the eye could see.

I stepped out, having no other option since my time machine refused to start and I had no clue where she had brought me. Sometimes, the TARDIS has a mind of her own. Where were we? Rose would’ve known. She was smarter than me. I so wished I could’ve rescued her from the parallel universe. My Rose…the one companion I had fallen for and who had seen me through thick and thin. Now it was just me and the TARDIS on our adventures together.

I stepped out…and bam, it hit me! The meadows no longer seemed unknown to me as I spotted little doors peeking out. Little underground dwellings, illustrations of which I had seen in my good old friend Tolkien’s books all those years ago when I ‘d last visited him.

I was in the world he had created. I was in the Shire.
